Is the Media Helping You to Find Clients?

We often fall under the delusion that we have to do everything ourselves, if we want to be successful. But that's never true. We need to do A LOT ourselves, but never all of it.

An example? Well a nice upbeat article on Life Coaching came out in the March 26th Sunday New York Times and suddenly, one coach that I know got called by a potential client who read the article and hired him on the spot! And other coaches that I know are also suddenly hearing from more potential clients. One article can have a big ripple effect...

Hmm...not sure I agree all publicity is good. Yes, it gets people talking, but the Daily Show piece also pointed out a lot of flaws with the profession and zeroed in on some sore spots...like coaches just coach coaches to become coaches.
I think we deserved a bit (big bit) of lampooning. This profession can be a little blind to its weaknesses, I think.
I don't think it helps if potential clients see a bit telling them that if they need a coach they are a L.O.S.E.R.
Cool we are on the radar screen but let's not pop open the champagne just yet.
